Role summary

Mechanical engineering interns to work on automating our current manual manufacturing processes and developing machines or mechanical systems to improve efficiency, consistency, and scalability.

Key responsibilities

Studying existing manual processes and identifying opportunities for automation. Designing and developing machines, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical mechanisms. Preparing 3D models, technical drawings, and basic design documentation. Building prototypes and testing machine performance. Improving machine designs based on practical manufacturing requirements. Working with materials, fabrication, assembly, and process optimization.

Requirements

We’re looking for mechanical engineering students who are curious, Dedicated, practical, and genuinely interested in product development and sustainable manufacturing. Experience with CAD software, prototyping, fabrication, or automation will be an advantage. Candidates who demonstrate strong dedication, ownership, and meaningful contribution may have the opportunity to continue with Buoy Pencils in a long-term role with additional growth opportunities.
